Privacy Policy
Effective as of 15th Jul 2025, Built with trust at the core.
Cruxe is committed to protecting the privacy of you and your customers. This Privacy Policy explains exactly what we track, how we track it, why we track it — and just as importantly, what we don’t track.
What Is Cruxe?
Cruxe is a lightweight analytics insight tool that helps Shopify store owners understand real behavioral patterns — the clicks, hovers, and hesitations that analytics dashboards miss.
We provide clear, actionable insights by analyzing anonymous behavioral data collected from your store via a privacy-first process.
What Tools Do We Use?
Here’s what powers Cruxe:
PixieHog (Shopify Plugin)
We use the PixieHog plugin to collect behavioral signals from your store.
Built using Shopify’s official Customer Events (Pixel) API
Doesn’t access or collect personal customer information (PII)
Sends only behavioral events (clicks, page views, hovers, scrolls, etc.)
You can install, configure, and pause it anytime through your Shopify admin panel
PostHog (Behavioral Data Platform)
Events from PixieHog are sent to PostHog, a fair-source, open-source analytics platform.
We currently host a dedicated PostHog instance to manage early-stage usage
Data sent to PostHog is fully anonymous and under our operational control
You will be able to migrate to your own PostHog instance in the future (roadmap feature)
No third-party ad tools or trackers are involved
Cruxe Insight Engine
Your anonymized behavioral data is processed using our proprietary AI-powered Insight Engine:
Built to analyze user journeys, friction points, interaction patterns
Generates tailored insights for your store, without referencing personal data
Designed to spot micro-patterns that traditional tools miss (e.g., rage-clicks on non-clickable elements, hover hesitation, navigation loops)
What Data Do We Collect?
We focus exclusively on anonymous behavioral data — never personal information.
✅ We Collect:
Page views
Button clicks
Scroll depth
Cursor movement / hover data
Form interactions (e.g., field abandonments)
Drop-off points (like checkout abandonment)
Timing events (e.g., time spent before rage-clicking)
❌ We Do NOT Collect:
Customer names
Email addresses
Phone numbers
IP addresses
Device IDs
Payment information
Order or cart contents (unless manually enabled by you)
All collection is event-based and non-identifiable by default. There is no DOM sniffing, no invasive scripts, and no hidden tracking pixels.
Who Owns the Data?
You do.
Cruxe does not sell or share your data
You have full rights to pause, delete, or export your behavioral data
You’ll soon be able to run Cruxe on your own PostHog instance — making you the data controller
In the early stage, we process data on our infrastructure, but this is fully auditable and never shared with any third party.
How Can You Control It?
Through Your Shopify Admin:
Disable or pause the PixieHog plugin
Modify or limit the events sent (based on your preferences)
Through Cruxe:
Request deletion of all behavioral data associated with your store
Contact us anytime at [Insert Email] for questions or requests
Future releases will include a self-service dashboard for complete data visibility and control
How Long Do We Store Data?
We store anonymized event data for a maximum of 90 days
Summary insights may be stored longer for historical comparison (non-identifiable)
You can request deletion at any time
Is This GDPR-Compliant?
Yes.
We collect no personally identifiable information (PII)
All processing is lawful under the “legitimate interest” clause (Article 6(1)(f))
We provide full transparency, control, and opt-out options
We’re aligned with Shopify’s Pixel API restrictions by design
Your Responsibilities
As a Shopify merchant, it’s your responsibility to disclose any third-party tools used in your privacy policy. We recommend adding a line about the use of behavior analytics tools and that no customer PII is shared.
You can include this line in your policy:
"We use a behavior analytics tool (Cruxe) that helps us understand how users interact with our store. This tool collects only anonymous behavior signals — no personal data is collected or shared."
Updates to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the product evolves. If we make significant changes, you’ll be notified via email or in-app. You can always find the latest version at this page only.
